What is LCAP

By now, you may have heard this new acronym many times. But what is LCAP and how what does it mean for Crafton?  LCAP stands for “Local Control Accountability Plan”.  According to the RUSD website, in January 2012, Governor Brown’s budget proposed replacing most of California’s complex formulas with a weighted student formula. This concept is called the Local Control Funding Formula or LCFF, which when fully implemented will allocate educational funds based on specific student needs and will allow maximum flexibility at the local level.  Our School Site Council has worked to align our Crafton school goals and budget allocations with the District LCAP goals and areas of focus. These, in turn, align with the 8 priority areas for the state:

• Student Achievement
• Student Engagement
• Other Student Outcomes
• School Climate
• Parent Involvement
• Implementation of Academic Standards, including a focus on English Learners
• Course Access
• Basic Services, including facilities, qualified teachers, and instructional materials

Areas we will focus on this year include increasing student achievement for all subgroups, and improving our school climate and discipline through PBIS strategies.
